Manchester is recent times has become the star of the silver screen. The city has even been known to fake it as the Big Apple, thought that was Manhattan in Jude Law’s 2004 remake of Alfie then think again? Scenes were shot in the streets of the bohemian Northern Quarter!
The same streets welcomed back Jude alongside Guy Ritchie and Robert Downey Jr. at the end of 2008 undertaking filming for Sherlock Holmes the is released at Christmas.
Yet when it comes to the production of film the future might well be a product of Manchester’s creative fraternity. A perfect example are the talented bunch of graduates from this year’s Manchester Metropolitan Univerisity’s BA (Hon) Contemporary Film & Video course.
The group has produced films ranging from a futuristic adaptation of the ‘Don Quixote’ story to a 1940’s war torn love story. Now due to the wonders of the inter-web a full showcase can be viewed on the MMU CF&V website… popcorn anyone?
